Underwhelming Debut for ETH Futures ETFs
The inaugural Ethereum (ETH) futures exchange-traded funds (ETFs) made their highly anticipated debut in the United States on Monday, with a total of nine ETFs hitting the market simultaneously. These offerings came from some of the world's largest investment firms, including Valkyrie, VanEck, ProShares, Bitwise, and others.
However, how did Day 1 fare? According to Eric Balchunas, a Senior ETF Analyst at Bloomberg, it was a rather lackluster start. By midday, the ETFs had collectively generated a mere $2 million in trading volume. This figure falls significantly short of the trading volumes witnessed during previous cryptocurrency ETF launches.
To provide some perspective, the first Bitcoin (BTC) futures ETF saw a staggering $1 billion in trading volume on its inaugural day, with $200 million traded within the initial 15 minutes following its launch!
